Posts: 10343 | My daughters horse was diagnosed with minor navicular a year ago at the age of 9. Vet said he wouldn't call it full blown navicular but he does have changes to the navicular bones and pin holes in the bones. I have been feeding him Equibone by TLC since we got the diagnosis and we have also changed his feet. He has been much better since the diagnosis however we competed hard this year. Whenever he is stalled he lies down almost the entire time other than when he is eating. I dont stall at home so this is just when we are on the road. This fall, at the last race of the season, he came up lame after the first day there. Thermal Imaging of his feel revealed white hot heat in his heels. I contacted my vet and he recommended he wear soft ride or easy boot cloud type boots when trailering and when stalled. So which are better? Soft rides or the Easy Boot Cloud? I have been reading mixed reviews so just looking for input on what would be best for him in his situation. Also- does anyone have any opinions on BOT or PHT bell boots for a navicular horse? Posts: 3782 | I have soft rides for my filly to travel in, for all four feet. I think the easy clouds are not a bad option personally though a bit more affordable. That being said, I do think the soft rides are a bit nicer with better support. In this case, because you are not looking at prevention (since he already has the navicular) but treatment I think I'd go with the higher quality item. |

Extreme Veteran Posts: 302 | I'm not a lot of help because I've never used the Easy Cloud Boot... I have only *seen* them at a booth in Vegas. Didn't seem like the same quality as Soft Ride - but I do not know that for sure, only my opinion. I do absolutely LOVE my Soft Rides. They are expensive, but worth every penny. I use them when hauling long distances, stalling on concrete, at shows with only concrete to stand on, for horses when they seem to be sore and more. When I leave them on for more than a day, I take them off and clean them out. Wonderful product. I don't think you would regret buying them. |

Extreme Veteran Posts: 300 | From what I have read so far the Easy Clouds are $93 per single boot and Soft Rides are $195 per pair. Also, I read that having your horse shod voids the 90 day warranty on the Easy Clouds. I am not sure if there is a warranty on Soft rides as I haven't found it yet.... |

Posts: 10343 | I'm not worried about the cost and this horse is not shod nor will he be. I just want to get the best boot for his condition. |

Posts: 10277 | I have a gelding recovering from an infected coffin joint. He is stalled and wearing soft rides 24/7 for the past 3 weeks. Mine are about 2 years old, stored in the barn, used only on long hauls maybe one a month and two pairs have cracked and come apart. Maybe that is expected for the rubber to degrade over this time even without that much use but it sure is expensive. I am going to buy a pair of the clouds to see how they compare. |

Posts: 895 | Used to have a gelding with severe navicular, he was kept barefoot and we managed to keep him sound till he passed away. But I used soft rides for him on the days that he got sore, for hauling to and from shows, in between runs (he was a gymkhana horse), after runs and usually I'd keep them on for the next that then take them off so he didn't get used to wearing them all the time. They were wonderful.. and he really liked them. If I didn't put them on or forget to at a show, he would literally stare at me, literally dance from toe to toe just shifting as if saying.. Mom, you forgetting something? lol But I LOVE soft rides.. amazing product. |
